Best routes into Bradford are:

  • from the south, east or west of Bradford - M62 and the M606
  • from the north-west of Bradford - A629/A650 via Skipton and Keighley
  • from the north-east - A1 or A19, and reach Bradford via the A59 and then the A658 south of Harrogate.

Parking

Between 9.00am and 5.30pm on weekdays, parking on all University car parks requires a permit.

 

Permits are not available for conference delegates or short course participants anywhere on the City campus.

 

The visitors' car park outside the Richmond Building (the leftmost P marker) may be used by key event contributors such as speakers, but spaces cannot be reserved or guaranteed. All visitors must obtain a permit from Richmond reception on arrival.

 

There is an NCP car park on Goit Side, just off Thornton Road, from where it is a ten minute up-hill walk to the city campus. Normal NCP charges apply for casual parking. The rightmost P marker below shows the location.

 

 

By Train

Bradford has two train stations - Bradford Interchange and Bradford Forster Square. Both stations have extensive rail links, though many involve changing at Leeds.
The Interchange is where you will probably arrive. Approximate journey times are:
• London, King's Cross - 3 hours
• Edinburgh - 4 hours
• Birmingham - 3 hours
• Manchester - 1 hour
• Leeds - 20 minutes

Getting to the City Campus from the train stations
Walking takes about 15 minutes, though it is partly uphill.
From the Interchange, come down the hill, across the crossing and turn left in front of City Hall.

From Forster Square station, walk along past the "Fibres" sculpture out onto Cheapside, then along Market Street to City Hall.

From City Hall, walk across City Park (shown below with the Alhambra Theatre in the background).

 

 

Cross the road and walk left towards the glass front of the Alhambra Theatre.
Turn right up Great Horton Road just before the Alhambra Theatre.
The University is about 300 metres up this hill, beyond the College.

By Air

There are direct regular air services into Leeds/Bradford International Airport, 7 miles (11 km) from the University, from various cities around the UK and Ireland as well as from many international locations.

Bradford can be reached from the Airport by taxi at a cost of about £16. There is also an hourly bus service to Bradford Interchange at a cost of around £2.00.

Many internal and international flights can also be made into Manchester Airport, 50 miles (80 km) south-west of Bradford.
