TRAVELLING TO BRISTOL


The centre of Bristol is easily accessed by road, rail or air.

 

Travelling by Air

Bristol Airport is about 8 miles, or about half an hour, from the centre of Bristol and there is a bus service, A1, that runs from the airport to stops in the centre of Bristol up to every 10 minutes, depending on the time and day. Travelling by Road

 Bristol can be accessed via the M4, M5 and M32 motorways. The M32 terminates in the centre of Bristol.

Parking can be difficult in the centre of Bristol and so you would be advised to check on the parking arrangements of your hotel should you need to park onsite.

Parking at the venue is available by obtaining a pass from the stewards on the main gate at a reduced rate, currently £2.50 per ticket per day, which would be valid until midnight.

 

Travelling by Train

 

Travelling to Bristol by train you need to arrive at Bristol Temple Meads station, which is about 1 mile from the centre of Bristol and about 1.5 miles from the SS Great Britain.
There are buses that access the centre of Bristol from just outside the entrance to the station and taxis are also available from the same location. Many of the hotels are within easy access of the station.

TRAVELLING TO SS GREAT BRITAIN ON BRISTOL’S HARBOURSIDE

By Foot

The SS Great Britain is situated within the Harbourside area and would be accessible on foot for most central hotels. However, parking is available on site at a reduced rate by purchasing a ticket from the stewards on the main gate.
Brunel’s SS Great Britain is within walking distance from Bristol city centre (approximately 20 minutes) and Bristol Temple Meads Railway Station (approximately 30 minutes).

 

By Road

Follow the white anchor symbol on the brown tourist signs for SS Great Britain.

 

By Ferry

There is a ferry that would enable crossing of the harbour should you be located on the far side. There are stops at various locations along the harbourside. Please check the timetable as services are infrequent.
